Conad ready to enter the insurance market

Not only Telco, but also large-scale retail operators are ready to enter the insurance market. This is the case of Conad which, during the presentation of the preliminary 2023 data, announced the progressive implementation of new services within the HeyConad digital ecosystem . Services in the pet care, financial and insurance and mobility sectors will now be added to online shopping and the travel, culture and leisure offer in 2024. The new services will be supported by the investment plan for the three-year period 2023-2025 of almost two billion euros.

“From omnichannel, to private label products, to sustainability up to digitalisation, with the expansion of the HeyConad platform to new types of services – stated Francesco Avanzini, general operating director of Conad – These are the drivers that will allow us to continue to grow and recover efficiency, laying the foundations for a solid future that also opens up to the beyond trade sector. Between now and 2025, we expect average growth above the inflation rate of around 5%, which will allow us to consolidate our role as leader of Italian large-scale retail trade”.

Regarding the offer of insurance services, Avanzini specified that Conad “is closing an agreement with a leading global insurance company with which we will provide our customers with accident, leisure and home insurance products that are not out of our world.” , represented by families. In the next month we will formalize the agreement which will start in June”. The name of the partner has not yet been disclosed, but Askanews revealed that Orazio Rossi, country president of the American insurance group Chubb , was present in the room, greeted by Avanzini. “Insurance – concluded the Conad CEO – will be a derivative of purchasing behavior and will not be a push on the consumer. The Italian is already obliged to do that of the car which we will not enter.”
